Coldest Night of the Year, Barrie

Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly walking fundraiser. In Barrie it supports Youth Haven, Simcoe County’s only youth shelter, providing emergency and transitional housing to all youth between the ages of 16 and 24. Coldest Night of the Year, Orillia

The Coldest Night of the Year is a super-fun, family-friendly fundraiser for hungry, homeless, and hurting individuals and families across Canada. In Orillia, the event supports The Lighthouse Soup Kitchen & Shelter which serves 30-50 people each day. The walk is at Lion's Oval Public School in Orillia.


Times:

  •  4 pm - Registration opens
  •  5 pm - Opening Ceremonies
  •  5:15 pm - Walk begins (all distances)
  •  6 pm - Registration closes
  •  6pm - Meal service begins
  •  8 pm - Route closes, meal service ends

Between 6:00 and 8:00 pm a warm, light meal will be served to all walkers and volunteers.

: Coldest Night of the Year, Peterborough

Entrants needed for the 8th annual Coldest Night of the Year Walkathon!  Brock Mission and Cameron House have the privilege of hosting the COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR walkathon in Peterborough this year. Joining over 100 communities across our nation to raise awareness and funds in the fight to end the homelessness in Canada.  Brock Mission and Cameron House have received operating grants from CNOY for the past five years- the more successful the walk, the larger the grants available.  Coldest Night of the Year takes place Saturday, February 24th 2017. Registration opens at 4:00pm. It will be located at the center of the Charlotte Mews (The Social Services HUB). There will be lots of signs!  A warm, light meal will be provided upon the walkers return. Pledge forms and the information needed to register can be found at coldestnightoftheyear.org. 705-768-2504

Join us Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex for the Coldest Night of the Year Walk in support of our local food bank! This is a first for the beach and we are so excited to be joining with partners in the community to host this amazing event! Bundle up and join us for this family-friendly 2K or 5K walk as we raise money in support of the hungry, homeless & hurting in the beach. Orillia Winter Games 2018

The 2018 Ontario Winter Games are the largest multi sport event in Orillia's history. The City of Orillia is the official host for the 2018 Ontario Winter Games, taking place March 1 to 4, 2018. Athletes, ages 12 to 18, from all regions of Ontario will compete against their fellow provincial athletes. The Games provide athletes with development and competitive opportunities that will prepare them for national and international sports competitions. It also provides communities, volunteers and everyone a chance to celebrate sport in Ontario.

 

For the first time, Orillia is hosting the Games and will welcome athletes, coaches, managers and officials from across the province for this four-day event. More than 3,000 athletes, coaches, managers and officials will be participating in 25 different sport events. Events include alpine skiing, weightlifting, boxing, kickboxing, ringette, figure skating, boys hockey and curling and much more. The majority of the Games will be held in Orillia; however, proud neighbouring local-area municipalities such as Oro-Medonte, Chippewas of Rama First Nation, Gravenhurst, Midland, Bracebridge and Huntsville will also participate in hosting events.
